NPR One has a nasty habit of opening itself in the background and autoplaying when no such command is given over the past two years.
It tends to also auto-open randomly when connecting to Apple CarPlay. Support has only suggested deleting and downloading the app, which has not resolved the issue. This is an okay app, the redesign was fine for the most part. I wish that I could share stories more easily though- there is no easy share button at the top of an article. A favorite, starred, or other system would be very helpful. Please include these changes. Thank you NPR.
Hi there, Thanks so much for your feedback. We really appreciate all of these suggestions - we are definitely thinking about how we can help personalize your experience and these are great ideas on that front that we will take under consideration.
Lastly, I did want to note that you can share stories from the app. I hope that helps in some way. Thanks again for your support of this app and NPR! There was so much to love about it. Although I do Support my local NPR Station, I also like to browse, including locally produced programs from other parts of the country, which are not carried by my local station. That was easy to do in the old app. I simply brought up the station, and chose an on-demand program. These shows were displayed alongside the live streams.
In addition , I could create a Favorites list, and even add items to a playlist for later use. In the new version, all of these features are gone. I think we need to scale this in order for this to be something that you can see a return on. Clarification : This post has been revised to clarify that NPR hopes to be testing versions of the app by May. A launch date has not been finalized. Just a thought!
From their point of view, why would we encourage our listeners to use an app that has no revenue opportunities for us other than membership leads? But how do we get there if stations feel no incentive to market the app?
I just wish I could see this conversation evolve somehow. In looking at reviews, where 1 star is almost as frequent as 5 star, I conclude that this is not for me.
