While there are separate twin beds, work desks and wardrobes, the washrooms, are shared. If the room type is a twin studio then the kitchen is shared as well. These are usually the cheapest options. Ensuites — You have your own room with your own washroom, wardrobe and desk, however, the kitchen is located outside the room and is shared.
The number of people sharing the kitchen can range from 3 to These are the most common type of room available in all accommodations and usually come with a generously sized kitchen, living and dining space. Single Rooms — Similar to ensuites, you have your own room with a desk, bed and wardrobe, but with the exception that you will share a bathroom with other residents.
Studios — The largest of the three; these have a private room, washroom, wardrobe, desk, kitchen as well as a small dining space. They are completely individual and usually are the most expensive ones.
Understanding Location: Zones — London is almost radially divided according to the distance from central London into separate zones; for a better understanding, have a look at the London tube map. LSE falls in Zone 1 out of a total of 6 zones. My second tip is to check the travel duration and route from your accommodation to LSE on Google Maps. And remember to always use an Oyster Card or your contactless card to make sure you get the cheapest fare price!
Connectivity — Your accommodation should ideally be located near a tube station. It would be even better if it has a few around so you can access different tube lines to avoid changes during your journey. Proximity to bus stations are also extremely important as tubes do not run throughout the night and often, buses do.
Also, bus stops can be closer to your accommodation than the tube station, which is especially important for those very tiring days. These are popular stores for groceries, medicines, and other amenities. It can be really difficult to carry these things around at once and so their location should not be compromised.

Cost Room size, amenities, location : Living in London is expensive and the room rates reflect that. This is why it is necessary to look over all the factors that can influence the weekly rent, so that you can pick a hall that best caters to your budget and needs. There are many factors that influence the final price of a room for the year. Most halls aim to give everyone a similarly-sized room but some halls may give you the option of picking a room that is bigger, or one that has a double bed, which tends to result in an increase in the cost per week.
One thing that can really drive up the price is having a private bathroom. Rooms will usually always have a sink so the option of having a room with a shared bathroom will be cheaper. Location can also have an impact on price.
For example, halls in Covent Garden tend to be the most expensive halls. Carr-Saunders and Passfield that are located in Bloomsbury can cost up to pounds a year.
Contracts: Another thing to look out for is contract lengths. Contracts can vary in terms of the number of weeks you stay in halls. It is also convenient if I need to work in the library or have a meeting on campus at short notice. Charlotte Street has masses of food options as well as the food market on Tottenham Court Road.
Everyone is super friendly and the halls are very social, partly due to being one of the smallest halls and as a result feeling quickly like a family. Would definitely recommend! The location is great along with the social life as it's a small hall with lesser people. Everyone knows each other so it's amazing! Location is great but a bit far from LSE 30 minute walk, 25 by tube Facilities are good, brand new and refurbished rooms and kitchens Room was decent size, but the rooms are different on the different wings of the hall, with one wing having only single beds and the other wing has double beds.
I wish you could atleast choose which one you get or there were different price choices The social experience is good as it's a small tight knit hall. The halls of residence has been central to my friendship making at LSE. Our catered dinners are the perfect setting to make new friends and catch up with people one different courses and who may be living on different floors.
Since it has been newly renovated, the facilities are excellent and the staff are really lovely to. I would highly recommend to anyone considering studying at LSE. I would say it has a very strategic location. Great food too! Carr-Saunders Hall has a very strategic location. It is 5 minute walk to Tesco and 20 minute walk to Oxford St. The catering food is also very nice! I have an absolutely beautiful single room with a double bed which is well-heated.
The rooms are very nice having recently been refurbished, so everything is modern.
